From AIS to AIM
The Global Air Traffic Management Operational Concept has provided requirements for the Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) to transition to a broader concept of Aeronautical Information Management (AIM).
This 5 day course will help participants follow the Roadmap for the Transition from AIS to AIM relevant to their ICAO region in order to provide aeronautical information in the new world of aeronautical information management.

Course Content
The Global Air Navigation Plan (ICAO Doc. 9750), which contains near- and medium-term guidance on air navigation system improvements necessary to support a uniform transition to the ATM system described in the Global Air Traffic Management Operational Concept (ICAO Doc. 9854).
Learn about the work of the ICAO Study Group (AIS AIMSG) to amend to Annex 4 – Aeronautical Charts, Annex 15 – Aeronautical Information Services, the Aeronautical Information Services Manual (Doc. 8126), and the Aeronautical Chart Manual (Doc. 8697), and to develop two new manuals: the AIM quality systems; and AIM training.
The Regional implementation of WGS-84 data and Electronic terrain and obstacle data (eTOD) are the beginning. Learn about the roadmap steps contained in the Roadmap for the Transition from AIS to AIM (ICAO 1st Edition 2009)
Examine implementation strategies and human resource issues
Computer-based navigation systems, area navigation (RNAV), required navigation performance (RNP) and ATM requirements which have introduced a need for new corresponding AIS requirements for quality and timeliness of information
Technology in enabling areas such as communication and graphics
Use of AIS in the cockpit
Learn about the EUROCONTROL roadmap for AIM implementation, the Single European Sky (SES) Aeronautical Data Quality (ADQ) implementing rule, and the use of the European AIS Database (EAD) database and its wider applicability.
The safety impact of aeronautical information and the need for evolution to a fully digital environment within AIM
